The company I manage uses Macintosh computers. When I came on board in April, I was thrown off by all the things QuickBooks for Mac 2006 would NOT do.

(I've been a PC QB user for 15 years.) I assumed the problem was the old program, so I suggested to the owner we update to the 2010 version. What a mistake! After numerous calls the Intuit support, plus posting questions on the Intuit support forum, I was informed that the program lacks over 1,000 features of the PC Pro version. (Direct from Intuit support.) If you haven't dealt with Intuit support, that is a trial in itself. What I have found is that the person at the other end, in a call center in India, while good at the English language, has little practical knowledge of the functions of the programs and how small business utilizes them. The second is that they either do not or can not offer any support that does not pop up on their computer screen. (Why they reiterate your comment or question verbatim.) At the suggestion of our accountant, we decided to convert to an on-line QB for PC version.

Not only for the increased features, but to enable the accountant to better serve us. The accountant's company has done many of these conversions; however, ours was the first from Mac 2010. Rather than a two hour conversion, we are into day 5. First it was corrupt files. Then, the accountant could not convert directly to Pro 2010. So she had to scrape up a copy of 2005 to load, then 'step up' the conversion one year at a time.

At first, because the 'support' people in India cannot help, I asked to be contacted by an Intuit support expert in the Seattle area. Repeatedly, I was told that could not happen. As of last week, I have asked for is a refund for the $200 our company spent for the upgrade to Mac 2010. Today, after yet another call to 'support' I was told that could not happen because it has been over 60 days since the program was purchased. (As of today, 65 to be exact.) QuickBooks for Mac is a terrible program. On Intuit's own forums, I see the same concerns and complaints that have been going on for years.
